Old and Respected Citizen Buried

The funeral of Jacob G. Betzner was held from the home Saturday at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. J. H. Heldt of the Evangelical church, and was largely attended. Mr. Betzner or "Uncle Jake" as nearly everyone called him had been a resident of Miami county for fifty-five years and had a host of friends. Several attending the funeral had known him for fifty years and had grown to be fast friends. He will be greatly missed in the I.O.O.F., and K. of P., lodges. In the K. of P. lodge he had been Master of Finance for about twelve years and could invariably tell as to any member owing dues without referring to his book. He was as regular in his daily duties as a man of half his age and attended lodge until three meetings previous to is death. The tap of Uncle Jake's cane and his jovial greeting will be missed by his many friends who know that he went to his reward in peace and content for the faithful life he lived.

Those who attended the funeral of Jacob Betzner from a distance were: Andrew Gottschalk and sister Amanda of Burn, Noah Gottschalk, Mike Gottschalk and wife of Domestic, Miss Anna Schrock, Mrs. Jennie Myers of Bluffton, Howard Mutchler and wife, George Gottschalk and wife, Will Gottschalk and wife of Rochester, Ed. Gottschalk and wife of Kewanna, John Betzner of Chicago, Charley Betzner of St. Louis, Caroline Welling, Charles Hubbard of Monroe, Mich., Chris. Kurtz of Greentown, William Clark of Dayton, Ohio, Michael Miller of Linn Grove.
