Shirley Jeanne Abbey, 63, of Lebanon, died Saturday evening, Aug. 8, 2009, at Christian Health Care South in Lebanon.

She was born April 1, 1946, in Peoria, Ill., to James Matthew and Marcella Frances Pueschel Abbey, who preceded her in death.

She was one of the first people to work at Laclede Industries Sheltered Workshop, that was started by her father. She also attended Lebanon Developmental Center since 1991.

Survivors include three sisters, Marcella Candler and her husband, Ed, and Colleen Abbey, all of Lebanon; Patricia "Patty'' Gouldelock and her husband, Paul, of Springfield; two brothers, James E. Abbey, of Edelstein, Ill. and Michael Abbey, of Nixa; two nieces, six nephews, 19 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services for Shirley Abbey will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Sing officiating.

Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery, under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Tuesday in the funeral home.

A memorial has been established to the Lebanon Developmental Training Center and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
