Harris Veldman, age 82, of Zeeland, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009.

He was born on October 17, 1926 in Beaverdam to Edward and Tillie Veldman and was a life-long member of Beaverdam Reformed Church. Harris served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an independent bulk milk hauler.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ida Ruth; children, Marcia and Robert Pyle of Zeeland, Debra and Arlyn Bohl of Beaverdam, Bruce and Amy Veldman of Beaverdam; nine grandchildren: Joel and Sara Pyle, Tracy and Jason Weber, Kevin and Georgetta Bohl, Kyle Bohl, Beth Bohl, Rob, Caroline, Katherine and Mark Veldman; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Alfred Gemmen of Jenison.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Beaverdam Reformed Church with Reverend James Dykstra officiating. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State St., Zeeland. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be given to Beaverdam Reformed Church.

Harris E. Veldman was Married to Ida R. (Jelsma) Veldman on 11-21-1945. He served as a cook during World War ll.

They had three children together.
