STAUNTON - Alexander McCloud Jones Jr., 81, of 749 Lee Jackson Highway, died Tuesday morning (Dec. 11, 2001) at Augusta Medical Center.

He was born May 12, 1920 at New Cumberland, W.Va., a son of Alexander McCloud Sr. and Helen Louise (Dunlevy) Jones.

He retired from the postal service. He was a member of Hebron Presbyterian Church, where he had taught Sunday school for 30 years and was Elder Emeritus. He also was a member of the Jollivue-Barterbrook Ruritan Club.

Surviving are his wife, the former May Cook, whom he married August 7, 1941 a son and daughter-in-law, Gary D. Jones and his wife, Ann, of Mint Spring four brothers, Rodger and Robert Jones, both of North Carolina Richard Jones of New Cumberland and Porter Jones of Globe, Ariz. a sister, Edith Dean of Chicago and two granddaughters, Christina Ann and Angela Katrina Jones.

Burial will be at Thornrose Cemetery.
