A DEPLORABLE DEATH.
Late Miss Nellie Rogers Typical of Lovely Young Womanhood.
The death of Miss Nellie May Rogers of Esparto was duly chronicled in Friday evening's "Democrat." At that time we were able to ascertain only that she passed away shortly after the noon hour and that her affliction was muscular rheumatism and heart trouble, both of which seem to have developed while she was stopping with her grandmother, Mrs. Tutt, and working in a Guinda orchard. Our Guinda correspondent noted that about three weeks ago while working in that vicinity she was taken seriously ill and was moved to the home of her parents, near Esparto. It seems that from the time of her first affliction she continued to fail until death relieved her sufferings.
Deceased was a native of Capay, where she was born on the 9th of January, 1884. She was therefore 21 years, 8 months and 8 days old. A few years ago her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Rogers, removed to Esparto, where the family has since resided.
Miss Rogers was a graduate of the Yolo county public schools and of Esparto high school, and was a young woman of strong intellectuality. Her genial disposition, charming manners, many virtues and admirable traits of character endeared her to all who came within the circle of her acquaintance.
She was a prominent and active member of Phoebe Lodge,
I. O. O. F. of Capay, and the funeral, which will be held Sunday afternoon, will be under the auspices of that lodge. Rev. Robert McKinney will conduct the services at the family residence at 3:30 p.m. Interment will be in the I. O. O. F. cemetery at Capay.
Note: daughter of James and Nettie (Drever) Rogers. Granddaughter of David and Harriet (Lowrey) Drever. Harriet married R.E. Tutt after David's death.
