George I. Darst, 82, a retired Cheshire coal miner, died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at his home. He was a native of Cheshire twp.

He was born on June 10, 1879, the son of the late Samuel and Sarah Rupe Darst, and was the last of a family of eight children. Mr. Darst was twice married. His first was to the former Alma Ellis and she died in 1937. His second wife was to Alice Elliott who survives.

Children who survive are Mrs. J. (Nellie) Hansen of Pomeroy, Mrs. Cecil (Bessie) Mayes of Cheshire, Mrs. Cubie (Mae) Little, of Cheshire, Mrs. Ray (Goldie) Little of Pomeroy, Wilbur of Anderson, Ind., Pearl of Kygerville, Ernest of Little Kyger, and Mrs. Arthur (Frances) Preston of Cheshire.

A half-brother and sister who survive are Vernon of Middleport and Mrs. Leland Lemley of Cheshire.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Miller's Home for Funerals with burial in Gravel Hill cemetery. Rev. C.J. Lemley will officiate.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday evening.
