LaVerne Russell, of Lumberton, passed away at her residence with her family at her side.

Laverne was born to Josephine and Algie Hopson in their home in Doucette. At the age of 15, LaVerne married Jimmy Ainsworth of Groveton, Texas.

Their first son David Ainsworth was born a year later and a short sixteen months later they had their second son, Bubba Ainsworth, and ten years later a third son Bryan Ainsworth was born. She always wanted a girl and was blessed with a granddaughter Melissa Ainsworth in 1973.

To anyone who had the good fortune of meeting LaVerne she made a lasting impression. So full of life, a class act, respected and respectful. She always made you feel good about yourself. LaVerne was independent, caring, intelligent, loving, and patient. She was always ready to listen. She loved to dance and had a great sense of humor. Her life revolved around making other people happy. Anybody that needed help, whether it be family, friend, or stranger, she was there. She dearly loved family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She took daily rides on her golf cart through the neighborhood, swam, and took time to be Gigi. LaVerne believed Jesus was her savior and attended Church on the Rock North in Beaumont.

LaVerne was preceded in death by Jimmy Ainsworth, Don Russell, and a dear friend Madelyn Turner. Madelyn had two daughters, Patty and Pam; LaVerne became a second mother to them.

She was survived by sons, David Ainsworth and companion Sharon Wallace, Bubba Ainsworth, Bryan Ainsworth and companion April Welch; sister, Mary Helen Bermann and husband Mark; grandchildren, Melissa Prince and husband Tommy, Jessica Brown, Jason Arias, Dylan Ainsworth, Bryce Ainsworth, Wyatt Ainsworth; great grandchildren, Brailey Prince, Brisais Prince, and Taylor Brown; nieces, Cami and Doni.

Funeral services in the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment in the Garden of Eternity, Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
