Frank E. Darst

Frank E. "Shag" Darst, 85, of Point Pleasant died Tuesday Dec. 28, 1999, at Pleasant Valley Hospital.

Born Jan. 31, 1914, he was the son of the late William G. and Lena B. (Oliver) Darst.

He was a carpenter and retired from Mason County School Board in the maintenance department. He also was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-grandson, Joey Thompson; two brothers; and six sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Oma Snodgrass Darst; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Judith Darst of Point Pleasant; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth Shirley and Leonard Shobe, and Mary Ann and George Plants all of Point Pleasant; sister-in-law, Marguerite Darst of Point Pleasant; a brother-in-law, Howard and Virginia Snodgrass; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Deal Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Weaver and the Rev. Carl Swisher officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Flatrock.

Friends may call at Deal Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. tonight.
