Louis served in the United States Navy from November 16, 1944 until July 13, 1946, when he was honorably discharged as Yeoman Third Class. He received the American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He married Rose Marie Klein on May 15, 1952 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fredericksburg. He and Rose had six children, all of whom survive him: Becky (Kenneth) Laughlin and Dennis (Bernie) Loth of Fredericksburg; Annette Loth of North Richland Hills; Timothy (Rhonda) Loth of Willow City, Joe (Donna) Loth of Seguin, and Rocki (Ricky) Hartmann of Fredericksburg. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three sisters: Irene Wehmeyer, Josie (Belton) Klinksiek and Annabel Kuhlmann.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Daniel.
