According to History & Families Bell County, Kentucky, Hugh Parker Browning was born Sept. 28, 1840. He was the son of William M Browning and Winnie Parker. Mary was killed at Harbel by a train while walking to the home of son Marcellus on June 30, 1921.

They built a home on the west side of the Cumberland River across from what later becme the community of East Pineville.
