Edward P. Seiter, 88, a lifelong resident of Syracuse, NY, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 11, 1920, to the late Edward L. and Jenny Seiter. He served as sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force 570th Bomb Squadron, 390th Bomb Group during World War II, where he earned Bronze and Silver stars. Mr. Seiter worked for many years in the family business, E.L. Seiter Lumber Company, and as a home remodeler. He was a skilled craftsman, enjoyed the restoration of antiques and mastered the art of caning chairs. One of his most loved hobbies was working with his electric trains. He was a member of American Legion Post #1468 and a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, where he also served for many years as a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Seiter; his children, Stephen (Diane Blais), Christine (Gordon Dewey Jr.), Edward (Cindy Seiter), Catherine (Richard Gough), John (Margaret Seiter) and Judith (Jack Kaplan); grandchildren, Jessica Seeley, Dr. Jennifer Seiter, Nicole (Dave Lamphere), Louie Seiter, Eve Seiter, Nicholas Seiter, Zachary Kaplan, Kristina Kaplan Myers; and two great-grandchildren, Brooke and Madison. He was predeceased by his brothers, Arnold, Gerald, Cletus and Milton; and sister, Sarah. He will be remembered as a "Great Family Man." Special thanks to the wonderful staff of Community General Hospital, 3 West, and especially to Cindy for all her loving care. Services will be 8:45 a.m. Tuesday at Butler-Badman Funeral Home, Inc., 4504 W. Seneca Turnpike and 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Interment at Onondaga Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Lung Association of Central New York, P.O.
