ALFORD Mr. Carl Cecil Alford, 80, of Jacksonville, died Thursday morning at the Northeast Florida Community Hospice of Mandarin after an extended illness. Mr. Alford was born in Olustee and lived most of his life in Jacksonville. Mr. Alford is survived by: his wife of 57 years, Sarah Elizabeth Staggs Alford of Jacksonville; 2 daughters, Patricia Ann Brant of Jacksonville and Pamela S. Buckhalter of Green Cove Springs; 2 sisters, Barbara Modisitte of Villa Rica, GA and Frances Smith of Lake Butler; 2 grandchildren, Regina E. Frazier of Palatka and Gregory R. Downs, Jr. of Jacksonville; 1 great grandson, Christian Downs of Palatka. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 27, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Archer Funeral Home of Lake Butler with Pastor Roger Worten officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Lake Butler. Archer Funeral Home of Lake Butler is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at Archer Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M.
