Elizabeth Ann (Gase) Prang, known by both "Beth" and "Lizzie" to her friends and family, age 40, of Durango Drive, Killeen, TX, formerly of Tiffin, OH, died at 8:56pm, Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Wilford Hall Medical Center, on Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born November 19, 1968 in Tiffin to Russell and Margaret (Peg) (Rall) Gase. Beth was married September 1, 2000, in Elizabeth Town, KY to Keith Edward Prang, who survives her.
In addition to her husband, Beth is survived by a son, Cody Oberwegner; her husband's children Thomas Prang and Christopher Prang; her parents of Tiffin; a sister Marie (James) Hidalgo of Sacramento, CA; six brothers, Stephen (Karen) of Round Rock, TX, David (Madonna), James (Andrea), Anthony (Carolyn), and Thomas (Jovita) all of Tiffin, and Christopher (Christiana) of Surprise, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Coleman James Oberwegner, in 1991; and two sisters, Catherine Mary and Anne Mary.
Beth graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School; attended Bowling Green State University; graduated from Owens Community College; and graduated summa cum laude from Tarleton State University in 2006. Beth went on to achieve her life-long desire to teach, when she accepted a fourth grade teaching assignment at Skipcha Elementary in the Killeen school district. Beth was a member of St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church, Harker Heights, TX. Over the course of her life Beth lived in Tiffin, OH, Radcliff, KY, and Killeen, TX.
Beth will be remembered for her strong love for her family and friends, her devotion to teaching, and her ready sense of humor.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 9 pm, Monday, July 20, 2009 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-3113. There will be a wake service at 8:45 pm.
Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 9:30 am, Tuesday, July 21, 2009 followed by the funeral Mass at 10 am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin, OH. Beth's cousin, Father Mark Weaver will officiate the Mass. Burial will take place immediately following in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
A memorial gathering was held, Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Skipcha Elementary cafeteria in Harker Heights, TX.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, The American Cancer Society, or to The Fisher House Foundation.
