Mother: Annie Rebecca Brown
Her Father, William S King was born about 1838 in Ireland. in 1870 he was listed as a "Bookkeeper" in New York City. It was also believed that he was a "tea taster" and that he died sometime after the birth of his daughter, Maud, in 1874. Maud's mother, Annie, re-married in 1877 to Capt James Wilred Whiteley
US Census 1880* - Edna "Whiteley" age 6
- (Listed as a "daughter" to James Whiteley)
US Census 1910 - Edna M King - age 34
US Census 1920 - Edna King - age 45
- Living with her Mom "Annie Whiteley"
* Obviously the ages for James and Annie Whiteley are incorrect in the 1880 census as James would have been 22 and Annie would have been 28. Also, their daughter Edna is listed as a "Whiteley" when her last name was in fact "King." Note: Edna Maud King did not find out that her last name was "King" and that her birth father was William King until 1888. The ages of James and Annie in the 1880 census, along with Edna's last name may have been given to the census taker incorrectly by James and/or Annie so it would appear that Edna was their child. Note: Annie's mother's birthplace is listed in the 1880 census as West Indies:
