Nolan Cecil Altis was born June 29, 1936, at Mtn. Grove, Missouri and passed from this life at his home in Mtn. Grove, July 15, 1970 at the age of 34. He grew up in Wright and Texas Counties, graduating from Mtn. Grove High School in 1954. In 1960 he entered the U.S. Army serving his country for two years, most of which was in Korea. He was married to Areita Mae Smith, to this union was born one daughter, Tami Jo. Besides his wife and daughter Nolan is survived by his mother, Mrs. Zelien Altis, Mountain Grove, his father, Roscoe of Cabool, one brother, Dale of Mtn. Grove, one sister Mrs. Juanita Henderson of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and his paternal grandfather, Dan Altis of Cabool. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday in the Craig-Hurtt-Hutsell Chapel with Rev. Homer Smith officiating. Favorite hymns were sung by Shelby and Max Walker accompained by Mrs. Charley Franklin at the organ. Pallbearers were Lloyd Hancock, Lew Gordon, Bob Osborn, Ervin Yeager, Jack McGownd, & Harold Marshall. Interment was in the Hillcrest Cemetery under direction Craig-Hurtt-Hutsell.
