Betty Strickland Nichols, 44, passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008. She is survived by her husband of 11 years, Jim Nichols. She was born in Tallahassee, Fla., and was a lifelong resident of Crawfordville, Fla. She attended Panacea Congregational Holiness Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. EDT Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Harvey-Young Funeral Home in Crawfordville (850-926-3333), with burial at New Light Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Other survivors include her mother, Jeanette Strickland of Crawfordville; one son, Robert H. McNeal Sr. (and wife Karen) of Crawfordville; one stepdaughter, Katherine Nichols of Woodville; two brothers, Jerry Ammons of Woodville, Fla., and Perry Ammons of California; one sister, Julie Mann of Crawfordville; her father- and mother-in-law, Clarke and Anne Nichols; three sisters-in-law, Cathy Moss, Virginia Carter and Frances Trumbull; and one grandson, Robert H. McNeal Jr. She was predeceased by her father, Robert Ford Strickland.
