Grandpa Boyd was my Step-Grandfather and a very happy and pleasant childhood memory of mine.
He worked hard at Griffin Pipe in Florence, for a number of years. He worked double shifts for years at a time. He eventually contracted black lung disease which eventually took his life. When he left there, he became a chauffeur for Bill Doyle who was a millionaire businessman in Burlington.
He loved to have a good time and drank Jack Daniels and orange juice. He smoked cigars until the doctor told him to stop. He loved quality clothes and bought his from Polsky's on High Street in Burlington which was the high end shop.
He was a good, smart, wise and loyal man that loved the Lord and loved and adored his wife Mary.
