Sunset Crash Kills Three

A car - truck collision at Susnet Highway and Cornell Road five miles west of Portland killed three persons and injured two other persons Monday, the Washington County Sheriff's Office reported.

Dead were the auto's driver, Herbert Edwin Tanner, 61, Hillsboro; his wife, Auda Gay Tanner, 64, and Mrs. Belva Adamson, Gaston. Mrs. Adamson's husband, Vernon, was in serious condtion with head and chest injuries at St. Vincent Hospital.

Lawrence Lee Milliren, 27, Rt. 2, Box 281-A, Portland, was driver of the pickup truck. He was alone.

Milliren was in good condition at St. Vincent with possible back and chest injuries, attendants said.

Sheriff's deputies said cars making left turns through the left-turn lane at the intersection and a driving rain may have obscured the view of the drivers.
