Bertha V. Blankenbeckler, age 84, of DeForest, passed away after an extended illness while at her home on Sunday, July 12, 2009.

Bertha was born on July 13, 1924 in Maryland, the daughter of Arthur and Anna (Long) Blankenbeckler. She worked and lived most her life in the Pennsylvania area before moving to DeForest to be with sister, Wilma. Bertha enjoyed collecting cows and quilting.

Survivors include her sister, Wilma Anstine of DeForest/Lodi; a niece, Jackie Needham of DeForest; a great nephew, Kevin (Sue) Needham of DeForest; a great niece, Kimberly Gourley of Waunakee and many aunts and cousins in Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed in her memory to the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg, WI or Home Health United of Wisconsin.

A visitation will be held at the Ryan Funeral Home, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at a later date at the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary in Stewartstown, PA and burial at the Bel Air Memorial Cemetery in Bel Air, Maryland.
