A Sweet Little Angel with yellow hair and bangs, Who was beating from birth to 11 months old by her own mother Wanda Gibson Maddux and step father Ronald Maddux, she was taken out of the home at 11 months old and her mother and stepfather was indicted later tried and convicted of beating her they got 1 year in prison but only served 6 months they was released from prison in Nov.1974.then on May 1976 they petitioned to get Melisha back and the welfare officials said she would be better off with her family so Little Melisha was returned to them (she had spent 3 yrs in foster care) .So for 5 months the human services visited the house 21 times with police because the parents would not let them in the house the police would say we want to see a live baby so they let them see her but they did not check her.the parents would have the marks covered, so for 5 Long Months she was Beating, Tortured , and Finally on October 13, 1976 She was Murdered by her by her own mother and step-father.She had been Taken Out of the Home but then Given Right Back to Them.A Lot of People was Angry at Why she was Given Back.For the last three days of her short life she was made to do the death march around the inside of her house she was not allowed to stop or she would get a beating with a childs baseball bat with a metallic tip at the heavy end ,when she was allowed to sleep she was made to sleep naked on a baby mattress in the living room they said for her wetting in the bed that was her punishment, she asked for a glass of water and was told she could have a glass of water only if she could drink a tablespoon of tabasco sauce and keep it down.when she finally kept it down her step-father drank the water in front of her. she underwent considerably unternal bleeding after she recieved a 1in tear in her left kidney,she died from uremic shock as a result of the beating. they had no money so Sunset Memorial Gardens donated the burial plot for her to be buried.Her mother and step- father was charged with Second Degree Murder and held without bail.They was tried and convicted in Athens , Tn and got 99 yrs in prison with no parole.Because of this case the child abuse laws was changed.Wanda Maddux died in 1997 , Ronald Maddux died Feb. 2010.
