Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Nellie Daniel Acors, formerly of Mechanicsville, and his brother, Willard Acors, formerly of Montpelier.
Gordon is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Gloria Atino; his daughter, Valerie (Todd); a granddaughter, Baby Cecile Thornburg of Topeka, Kansas; sister-in-law, Rosemarie Atino Basham; three nephews, W. Keith Acors (Beth) of Lanexa, Edward and Philip Basham of Richmond; an aunt, Ellen Throckmorton of Richmond; three uncles, Loney (Carol) of Powhatan, Leonard (Elaine) of Aylett, and John (Shirley) Daniel of Richmond.
Gordon is a 1961-graduate of Lee Davis High School. From 1964 to 1970, Gordon served in the U.S. Army Reserves. In 1967, he entered VCU to study computer science. He retired from the Virginia Employment Commission, IT Division, on May 1, 1999 with 34 years of service. After retiring, he worked for Ukrop's for seven years. Gordon was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he served as a Befriender, Lay Minister, and a Confirmation Sponsor. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 395, and a former member of the Richmond Downtown Club and the Mercedes Club of Virginia. He enjoyed fishing, golf, traveling, and the Redskins. Gordon was a sweet, kind, and good man, and will be dearly missed by everyone.
The family will receive friends at Bliley's - Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:15 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Interment Westhampton Memorial Park Mausoleum.
