George W. File Dies At Hillsboro
George W. File, for years a prominent resident of Irving, but who came to Hillsboro last year to make his home with his daughter, Mrs E. H. Sturgeon, died at the Sturgeon residence in Hillsboro at 2:15 o'clock on Sunday morning of this week, Jan 30th, 1921, aged 70 years, 10 months and 1 day.
The deceased was born in Fillmore township March 29th, being a son of George and Mary Troutman File. He grew to manhood there and on Feb. 4th 1886, he was united in marriage with Miss Lucy McClure of Irving, and one child, Mrs E.H. Sturgeon survives this union. He also leaves three grandchildren; three brothers: Dan File of Pekin, IL; John W. File of Ft. Worth, Texas; Harris File of Ringwood, Okla.; and one sister Mrs. Elizabeth Barricklow, widow of William Barricklow, who lives on the old home place in Fillmore Twp.
Mr. File lived in Irving the greater part of his life and stood very high in the estimation of everyone. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and the remains were taken to Irving where the funeral was held at the Presbyterian church at 2 PM Monday afternoon, Interment at the Irving Cemetery.
The deceased had been in failing health for two years and for the past three months he had been practically bedfast. During this time he was tenderly cared for by his devoted daughter and everything possible was done by her to make the evening of his life pleasant.
