Gertrude's mother died of child bed fever after her birth. She was raised by an older sister. Eventually she went to Nebraska where her father lived, met and married my Grandfather Clarence in 1901. Gertrude and my father Warren remained in Nebraska with Clarence's parents while Clarence went to Washington to "Normal" school. In 1903 Gertrude and my father were reunited with Clarence in Washington. In 1904 my Aunt Ruth was born. Clarence and Gertrude joined an Adventist group and lived in a communal home. Gertrude's health began to fail, she had had reumatic fever as a child. On January 6, 1909 Clarence's father died suddenly. Eight days later, on Jaunary 14, 1909, Gertrude died as well. The first check written out of the Estate account was to Clarence, to bury his young wife. It was my father's life long dream to be reunited with his mother in heaven. We went to Washington in 1960 and Daddy attempted to locate his mother's grave. I don't remember if he did or not, but I do remember it to be very over grown, even then. Now I see she isn't even listed. Her death certificate says that is where she is buried. Lana Waldron
