William R. Privett, 57, of 818 Short Street, died at 2pm Monday at the Good Samaritan Hospital where he had been a patient since Saturday. He had been in ill health since February.

A resident of Bicknell since early in life, Mr. Privett was employed as a coal miner for several years, having worked various mines in the Bicknell area. He was last employed as a custodian at the Bicknell High School gymnasium.

A native of Daviess County, he was born February 23, 1906, the son of John and Cora Winegar Privett. He was married to Ruby Violet (Vale) Privett on September 26, 1928. She survives.

Mr. Privett was affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are six children, William Riley Privett, Jr. of Indianapolis, Donald E. (Dutch) Privett, Doris Mae Privett, and Mrs. Buddy (Naomi) Thompson, all of Bicknell. Harold (Monk) Privett and Mrs. James (Wanda) Evans both of Greenwood, Ind; eight grandchildren; and the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. John (Pearl) Scott of Bicknell, Walter Privett of Ragsdale, Mrs. Daisy Postlewaite of Carlisle, Mrs. Violet Yantes of Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Lorretta Lagneau of Columbus, Ind, John Privett, Jr. of Bicknell and Mrs. Stella Jane Perry of Honey Bee, Ky.

A sister and three brothers preceded him in death.

The body is at the McClure funeral home where friends may call after 6pm this Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday from the Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Carl Hansen officiating.

Burial will be made in the Bicknell I.O.O.F. cemetery.

The body will be taken to the church at 1pm Thursday to lie in state until the funeral hour.
