Memorial services for Louie Ray Carter, 67, of Lubbock and formerly of Levelland will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2009 at the Wolfforth United Methodist Church in Wolfforth with Rev. Curtis House and Rev. Gary Boles officiating. Services will be under the care of George Price Funeral Home of Levelland. Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2009 at George Price Funeral Home in Levelland. He died Friday, July 10, 2009, in Lubbock.
Louie was born May 12, 1942 in Levelland to Thomas Gordon and Dona Carter. He graduated from Sundown High School in 1960 and was active in FFA and raised and showed animals. He married Margie Pace on August 3, 1962 in Levelland. He was a farmer in the Levelland area and was third generation on the land. He served on the board of United Cotton Growers Cooperative board for 18 years and board president for 10 years. He also served on the Hockley County Jr. Livestock Board and Hockley County Farm Bureau Board.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and avid supporter of Texas Tech athletics. He loved spending time at his vacation home in Ruidoso, N.M. He took great satisfaction in his farming operation and also breeding and racing horses in New Mexico.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Margie of Lubbock; two sisters, Eva Mack of Alba, and Neva Middleton of Cross Plains; a son, David of Levelland; a daughter, Julie and husband Gary Boles of Littlefield; one granddaughter, Emilee Boles of Littlefield; and two step granddaughters, Emily Faye and Jessica Boles of Amarillo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Rex Earl Carter.
