Funeral services for Robert Donald Alberd, 62, of Bon Aqua will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2009 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Carter Elmore and Bro. Johnny Miller officiating. Interment with military honors followed in the Greenwood Cemetery, Charlotte. Mr. Alberd died Wednesday, July 8, 2009 in Veteran's Administration Hospital.


A native of Dickson, Mr. Alberd was the son of the late Raymond and Ruth Elizabeth Walton Alberd. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Robert held memberships in VFW Post 4641 where he was a past commander, Disabled American Veterans, and Lucien Berry Post No. 115 of the American Legion. He worked as a well driller for Norman Well Drilling.


Survivors include two sons, Robert Donald Alberd Jr. of Bon Aqua, TN and Scottie Raymond Alberd of Columbia, Tenn.; four sisters, Dottie Bennett, Nancy Smalley, Patsy Parker and Carolyn Hooper, all of Dickson; three grandchildren, Brandon Alberd and Hunter Albert of Bon Aqua and Hannah Alberd of Columbia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by one brother, Charles Alberd.
