Born May 16, 1912, Salt Lake City, Utah to William and Viola Dunn Furner. Married Velma Howard October 22, 1937, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She passed away at age 48 in 1965. Married Evelyn Wootton Swain, August 6, 1973.
Clyde was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all his life. He started his career at Continental Oil in 1931, during World War II he was assigned to the Clearfield Naval Supply Depot and retired in management from Zions Bank after 32 years. His most important goal was to serve others. Clyde was a kind, gentle, optimistic, people person. He loved to play golf and travel.
Survived by wife, Evelyn; children, Howard (Sharon), Carolyn Backman, Barbara (Mack) Gilbert; stepchildren, Lewis (Patrice) Swain, Shirley Sutherland; 26 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Vera Hamlin and Thressa Claybrook; brother, Blair Furner. Preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2004, 12 noon at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.). Friends may call Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at the Cannon Mortuary from 6-8 p.m. and the day of the service from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
