Fred "Oron" Heater, formerly of Belle Plaine, Kansas, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield, Kansas at the age of 91.

Oron was born the son of Guy Miller and Izora Pearl (Murphy) Heater on Sunday, February 1, 1920 in Longton, Kansas.

He met his future wife, Esther Haas, on May 1, 1947. The two were engaged on the 4th of July and married on April 15, 1948.

Survivors include wife of 62 years, Esther Heater; son, David Heater and his wife Teresa; daughter, Myrna Heath and her husband Steve; son, Michael Heater, Sr. and his wife Angie all of Belle Plaine, Kansas; daughter, Janette Heater of Kansas City, Kansas; daughter, Penny Heater of Wichita, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Kristin, Jana, Jonathan, Jeffrey, Michael, Jr., Paula, Jax and Jaycee; eight great-grandchildren, Jessica, Mirranda, Emerson, Avery, Charlotte, Addison, Andrew and Brody.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Monroe Dale; three sisters, Ella Mildred, Lorena Pearl and baby Izora Mae.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, February 27, 2011 with the family present from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

A celebration of Oron's life will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 28, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church, 528 North Merchant, Belle Plaine, Kansas.

A private interment will follow at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his loving memory with the American Legion Post 211, P.O. Box 62, Belle Plaine, Kansas 67013. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
