Visitation: 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Hixson Brothers, Pineville and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until service time.

Mr. Wilbur Wesley Pop Rister, 87, of Deville, passed from this life Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Rapides Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Rister was a member of Mora Baptist Church and was an equipment supervisor with the Louisiana Highway Department, Louisiana DOTD, retiring after over 39 years of service. His great loves in life were his sons, hunting, fishing and gardening.

His wife, Mrs. Clara Blackwell Rister; his parents, George & Minnie Blackshear Rister; his sisters, Mildred Rister Hays and Bena Rister Verzwyvelt and his brothers, Ova Rister, Andrew Rister and Willie Aubrey Rister, precede him in death.

Mr. Rister leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, Wayne Rister and his wife Kathy, of Ball, and Gary Rister and his wife Martha, of Pineville; brother, Edgar Rister of Natchitoches; grandchildren, Stephanie Rister Sanders, Christopher Wayne Rister, Laura Rister Paulk and Michael Paul Rister; his great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hembree, Cody McNeal, Kelsey Hembree, Victoria McNeal, Elizabeth Rister, Jordan Rister, Hunter Paul Rister, Breanna Paulk, Zoey Paulk, Lauren Sanders and Austin Sanders; special friend, Ellen Robertson and a host of other family members and friends.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Mr. Wilbur Wesley Pop Rister will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 6, 2009 at Hixson Brothers, Pineville with Reverend Dexter Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Mora Cemetery, Mora.

Friends may call Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Hixson Brothers, Pineville from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Jim Verzwyvelt, Clyde Cedars, Roy Carver, Glenn Peterson, Hillman Fredieu and John Griffith.
