Growing up she enjoyed her childhood with six sisters and a brother. An athlete nearly her entire lifetime, during her high school years she played on the girls basketball team. On August 22, 1931, she married the love of her life and best friend, Chester M. Bowersox. Their union of 57 1/2 years produced two sons.
Later the family tree grew and Frances had the joyous opportunity as matriarch of her family to oversee four generations with the additions of three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
Chet and Frances not only shared married life together, they were savvy business partners creating a dynamic team. From 1945-1962 they served the Leiter's Ford State Bank as owners. Frances was on the board of directors and the bank secretary. After selling their interest in the bank to Wayne Roe, she and Chet embarked on a two-year world vacation, eventually settling in the Ozona, FL, area where they became avid tennis players. Together they played doubles, making many friends on the tennis court. Frances continued to play tennis well into her 80s.
Frances was a member of the Leiter's Ford United Methodist Church for over six decades, since 1945. She was also a past member of several tennis clubs in Florida. The past five years Frances made her home with her son, Tom and Diane.
Frances is lovingly remembered by two sons, John Bowersox and wife, Ruth of Dunedin, FL, Thomas Bowersox and wife, Diane of South Bend; three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren; and three sisters, Bernice Hartz, Martha Ginther and Dorothy Talbot.
