Surviving are his father and stepmother, Ruth Abel; one son, Christopher (Julie Cole) Abel; one daughter, Shirley Ann (Charlie) Abel; two stepsons, Richard (Desiray) Hansen and Jeffrey (Cindy) Hansen; one brother, James Lee (Kirsty) Abel; one sister, Debra Pugsley; two stepbrothers, Tim (LuAnn) Gaisford and Greg Gaisford; one stepsister, Deborah (Rick) Stokes; nine grandchildren; and one grandchild on the way.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, mother, two stepbrothers and one stepsister.
