Fannie Mae Johnson-Middleton was born to Henry and Ellen Johnson on January 1, 1914. Although visibly-impaired, Mom did not allow that to stop her from becoming a dedicated wife and loving Mother.

She married Carl R. Middleton Sr. on February 26, 1941 in Bradenton, Florida; they had one daughter, Sandra and one son, Carl, Jr. Fannie Mae was known for her strong-will and great sense of humor. She was also known for her cooking and cleaning skills while raising her two children who were her pride and joy.

Fannie Mae, joined Wards Temple A.M.E. Church in 1941 and later St.Stephens A.M.E. church located in Bradenton, Florida. While living in Gary, her membership was transferred to First A.M.E. Church, Rev. Lewis E. Grady, Pastor. After moving to Maryland in 2002, her membership was under the watch care of New Hope A.M.E. Church in Waldorf, Maryland. Rev. Kenneth L. Young, Senior Pastor.

Fannie Mae was preceded in death by her mother and father, Henry and Ellen Johnson, her husband, Carl Roosevelt Middleton Sr.; and son-in-law, Donald S. Draw.


She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Middleton-Draw; son, Carl Jr. and his wife, Patricia Middleton; grandsons, Alston and his wife, Theresa Middleton, Lee and his wife, Jean Middleton and Carl III and his wife Monique Middleton; granddaughter, Tamika Middleton; great-granddaughters, Keisha, Monica and Nakyia Middleton; great-grandsons, Tyler and Alexander Middleton; sisters-in-law, Caldonia and her husband, Steve Lewis and Dorothy Middleton; brother-in-law, Roy V. Middleton; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service, July 6 at New Hope AME Church, Waldorf, Md.and burial will take place at Skyway Memorial Gardens, in Palmetto, Fla.

Arrangements are being handled by Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, Waldorf, Md. and Chandler Funeral Home, Sarasota, FL.
