Laura Alice Parmenter Allen, 87, of Goose Creek, SC, wife of Robert P. Allen, entered into eternal rest on the morning of September 3, 2007 at The Hospice Center of Charleston in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
Laura was of Presbyterian Faith. Laura and her husband of 65 years have lived in the Summerville, SC, and Goose Creek, SC, area for the past 44 years. Laura was an expert homemaker and devoted mother and is survived by her husband, Robert who is retired from the US Navy and Lockheed. She was born on July 21, 1920 in Keensburg, IL, and was raised in Princeton, IN. She and her husband Robert graduated from Princeton High School and dated while in High School. Robert immediately joined the Navy after graduating from High School and they were married three years later in Norfolk, VA. She was a stalwart Navy wife for 17 years, raising two sons during her husband's frequent times away from home during his Navy career.
She is survived by her sons, Michael R. Allen and wife, Barbara Jo Allen of Winter Park, FL, and James J. Allen and wife, Jolene N. Allen of Sanford, FL; grandson, Mark P. Allen of Wilmington, NC; granddaughter, Jennifer R. Ruggieri of Sanford, FL; and great-grandson, Casey M. Ruggieri of Sanford, FL.
She is greatly loved by her immediate family and she loved and is loved in return by numerous nieces and nephews in the Allen and Parmenter families in Southern Indiana.
