Born November 16, 1931 in St. John, ND to Walter Ervin and Fern May Albertson; passed away in Spokane Valley, WA on February 24, 2008, following a heroic eight year struggle with diabetes.

A 1949 graduate of Central Vally High School, Dick then attended Gonzaga University, before graduating from WSU in 1958.

During the Korean Conflict he served with the US Army Signal Corp., before returning home and marrying Joan W. Thompson in Spokane on July 18, 1959.

A Professional Engineer, Dick worked for 'Modern Electric Co.', then retired after 35 years as a Civil Engineer with the 'Washington State Dept. of Transportation' and following retirement worked for 'Ham & Electronics'.

Dick attended 'Spokane Valley Nazarene Church', enjoyed communicating with fellow HAM radio operators as part of the 'AARL' for many years and was a long time member of the 'NRA'.

A voracious reader and avid card player ('Hearts' was his favorite game), Dick loved sports of all kinds - whether participating in bowling, fishing, hunting, golfing, or rooting for 'The Cougs' and 'The Bullodogs'.

Most of all Dick loved being with his family, whether traveling cross country with Joan, their four children and his Mother - Fern with their camping trailer, cooking for them or just spending time... 'He was a great Dad!'

Dick is greatly missed by Joan - his beloved wife of 48 years; [2] Sons... [2] Daughters... Six Grandchildren' Three Step-Grandchildren; Sister... Sister-in-Law...

Funeral services will be held today at Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene, 15515 E. 20th St., Spokane Valley, WA, at 3:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, Dick's family requests that donations be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Assn.
