William Henry Babcock was born August 7, 1883, in Wisconsin, son of George W. Babcock and Mary Ann Peabody. He died September 19, 1920 at Barron, Wisconsin and was buried there in Wayside Cemetery.

Married

Mr. W. H. Babcock, of this city, and Miss Goldie Gustafson, were married at the home of the bride's mother at Rice Lake, on Sunday Aug. 10. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Mills in the presence of a company of near relatives of the contracting parties. The Shield joins the many friends of the contracting parties in extending congratulations. WILL BABCOCK PASSES OVER

William Henry Babcock, son of Mrs. Mary Babcock, died at the home of his mother in this city, last Sunday afternoon. He came from his home in Chetek in February to consult a physician and was never able to return.

Will practically grew up in Barron and was well known here a few years ago. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. W.H. Penn officiating.

William Henry Babcock, born Aug. 7, 1882 at Baldwin, Wisconsin, came to Barron with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Babcock, where he grew to manhood. Attended Barron Schools.

He was married to Miss Goldie Gustafsen at Rice Lake August 10, 1902. To this union was born six children, Fernella, George, Harry, Marian, Paul and Amos, all living.

Will learned the printer's trade at the Shield office after which he published a paper at Birchwood, Ingram and Clayton. At the time of his illness he was connected with the canning factory at Chetek.

Will came to Barron Feb. 2, to consult a doctor and had been with this mother since then, confined to his bed almost six months. He was a very patient sufferer. He was called Home Sunday, Sept. 19, at 5:30.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, six children, his mother, Mrs. Mary Babcock, three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Dovery of Eugene, Ore., Sue and Rena, of this city, and one brother Amos, of Chetek.

Out of town people present include: Mrs. Ben Peabody and son Judson of Hastings, Minn., C. Spilcke of Roberts; Joe Peabody of Minneapolis; Mae Peabody of Baldwin; Henry Carsley and wife, and Miss Belle Carsley of Comstock; Frank Phernetton and wife of Dallas; Mrs. Herb Fisk of Turtle Lake; Mrs. Ostland and Theodore Gustafson of Minneapolis; Mrs. Gustafson of Rice Lake; Mr. and Mrs. C. Strong, Mr. and Mrs. Byron Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hedenstrom, Mr. Johnson, S.P. McIntyre and Olaf Olson of Chetek; and Mrs. Kate Harris of Superior.

The pall-bearers were Harry Strong, Don Speed, Fred Atwood, Amos Clemmons, Charley Winchester, and J. V. Marsh, all of Chetek. [Published Friday, September 24, 1920 in the Barron County Shield, Barron, Wisconsin.]
