Her maiden name was written on her death certificate where the name of her mother should have been, so some have thought her mother was also named Caroline King. This is not true. She is the daughter of Jeremiah King (1811-1879) and Elizabeth Hollon (sometimes rendered Elizabeth Holland)(1822-1880).
