HART, Florence May
Passed away December 13, 2005 in Spokane at the age of 83. Florence was born November 29, 1922 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Her parents were Claude Edward Winney and Amanda Belle
Martin. About the age of two her family migrated to Nevada City, California. There she grew to adulthood. She joined the war effort during WWII then worked as a secretary at a local Army Air Force base. Florence also worked in the shipyards of San Francisco helping to build Liberty Ships. It was there that she met a Navy Seaman: Willard Sherrod Hart. That couple was joined in marriage in 1947 in Reno, Nevada. They soon returned to the Willard's native Eastern Washington and the wheat farms of his parents. Florence has been a resident of the Spokane area for more than the last 50 years. She was a homemaker until her children were all in school, then worked at Crystal Linen Supply for many years, and later in health care, helping to tend the elderly.
Florence was always there to help out family and friends and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in the afterlife by her parents; ex-husband, Willard Hart, siblings: Earl Winney, Dorothy Deppish, Helen Jones; and grandson, Joseph Allan Hart.
Florence is survived by three children: Roxie and husband Ted Butler of Forest Grove, OR, Claudia and husband
Larry Butler of Spokane, Wesley Hart and wife Norine of Glendale, AZ; sister, Elsa Dutra Andrade of Roseville, CA; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. The numbers of her friends are beyond count. Everybody that got to know her soon thought of her simply as Mom or Grandma. The family will hold services in the Spring.
