YESTER, RUTH MULVANEY, 89, of Birmingham, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a graduate nurse from St. Vincent's Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William L. Yester, Sr.; sons, William L. Yester, Jr. and James M. Yester; and daughter-in-law, Janice Yester. She is survived by daughters, Kathleen Stack (John) and Ann Bacher (Mike); sons, Tom Yester (Mary) and Steve Yester; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 1, 2009 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Ridout's Valley Chapel, with a prayer service following. The Funeral Mass will be held Monday, February 2, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with burial following at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Beacon Hospice or the American Heart Association . Services are under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel (205.879.3401) in Homewood.
