Edward David "Fiddlin' Ed” Vickery, master fiddle player and "Pappy" to his three step-sons, Vern and Jack who survive, and Roy who passed in 2005. Ed was born on 1 January 1933 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the first of five sons born to Edward George Vickery and Effie Lillian Hemphill.

Ed loved his music and fishing; neither his fiddle or his fishing pole were far from sight. He was well known in Country Western venues in Wyoming and had the "Traildusters" band. He participated in numerous fiddle contests in Nevada, Idaho and Wyoming. Ed, aged 74 at the time, placed 1st in the Senior Division at the 2007 Rocky Mountain Regional Fiddle Championship contest in Casper, Wyoming. Ed played his last dance on the white fiddle he acquired after his old stand-by went missing. He always had a smile for those close to him and a courteous nod to strangers.

Ed passed away Saturday, 13 June 2009, at Life Care Center of Casper, Wyoming, aged 76, after a prolonged illness. In addition to his step-son Roy, Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Jo; younger brother, Errol Lynn Vickery; and both of his parents. Ed is survived by three younger brothers, Ken [since deceased] of Casper, and John and Phillip of Utah.

He is loved by his surviving family; his passing leaves a large void in many lives.
