A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June, 11, at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Street Chapel.
George served in the Navy during World War II. He received his electrical engineering degree at Auburn University in Alabama. He worked on the Apollo Space program at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, and retired as the OSHA Coordinate for UNC-G.
Survivors are his girlfriend of 30 years, Rose Harding; three children, David Heard of Washington, Linda Heard of New Jersey, Carol Wood and husband, George, of Greensboro, and grandchildren, Tiffany and Rachel Wood of Greensboro.
