Mrs. Sarah Shrubb Somes, widow of the late Oren A. Somes, died early Monday morning, November 27, 1950, at the home of her son, Kaple J. Somes of (this place. She was born March 5, 1867, the daughter of the late Elizabeth and John Shrubb of Lysander township. She is survived by three sons, Howard W. Somes, Kaple J. Somes and J. Hunting Somes; three granchildren, Mrs. Albert Arnold, Robert Somes and Mrs. Kenneth Freer, and three great grandchildren, Kathleen Somes and Cynthia and Douglas Freer. Mrs. Somes was a member
of Ida chapter, order of Eastern Star, Jordan. The former Sarah Lily Shrubb, she was married In 1888 to Oren A. Somes and they lived the major part of their lives in the town of Van Buren. Mr. Somes died May 5, 1941. Funeral services for Mrs. Somes were conducted Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 29, at 2 o'clock at the home of her soh Kaple J. Somes, the Rev. Harold E. Steer, pastor of the Methodist church, Jordan, officiating. She was interned in the family lot in Maple Grove cemetery, Jordan.
