Services for Oren A Somes, 74, widely known in the Town of Van Buren who died at his farm there Monday, will be conducted at the home at 2:30PM Thursday by the Rev James McConnell of Jordan Methodist Church. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. A life resident of the Town of Van Buren, Mr Somes was a member of the Elbridge Grange, Onondaga County Farm Bureau and Jordan Lodge IOOF. He was a past noble grand of the Odd Fellows Lodge. On Feb 15, 1938, Mr Somes and his wife, Mrs Sarah L Somes, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Howard W, and Kaple J Somes of Van Buren and J Hunting Somes of Jordan; Three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
