Ed served his country as a member of the US Marine Corp during the Korean conflict, guarding the Panama Canal.
Soon after returning home, he married Marie Wilson and began working on the Ventnor City Fire Department, where he served for forty three years, retiring as Captain in 1999.
Survivors include his wife of fifty four years Marie, his two sons Ed Jr (and wife Eileen), and Jim (and wife Donna), and daughter Karen Marie (and husband Gary Brinberg). "Pop Pop" to eleven grandchildren, Erin (and husband Paul) Long, Jason Brinberg, Christina Arentz, Jeff Brinberg, Julie Brinberg, Jimmy Arentz Jr, Andrew Arentz, Timmy Arentz, Eddie Arentz, Eric Arentz, Emily Arentz and great-grandchild Elizabeth Marie (Lily) Long.
