Her older brothers, Joe, Stan, Chet, and Ed fought in WWII and later Loretta joined the Sigmund Szczglinski VFW Post 7123 Lady's Auxiliary in Newark.
Her mother died when she was only 14, and her father passed away when she was only 18, after her father's death she was raised by her older sister Helen and her husband, Tony Szczglinski, whom she was very close to.
After graduating from high school in 1951 she enrolled in Newark College of Engineer for a degree in Chemical Engineering. She grauduated from NCE in 1955.
But due to the lack of jobs in the Chemical Engineering field at that time, in 1958 enrolled in Seton Hall University, her major being finance. She graduated in 1962 from Seton Hall and was hired by the State of New Jersey in 1963, and worked for the state for another 37 years before retiring in 2000.
She married John D. King, a prominent Newark Architect, on July 27, 1963 in Roselle Park, N.J. She is survived by her loving son Robert, and three grandchildren, Richard, Emily, and Michael.
