This boy and two others were shot by an acqauintance who had lured them to a park and then ambushed them in a jealous rage over a girl. Cory stood in front of his friend when the shooting started, likely saving his life. He died at the scene. His friends were seriously injured, but survived.

Obituary from The Independent Record:

Cory Adam Andrewski, 16 of Helena was shot to death on June 3, 2009. Cory was born on June 18, 1992, in Rome, N.Y. He moved to Montana in 1999. Cory had been a student at Capitol High and in Enet, N.Y. Cory enjoyed snowboarding, longboarding, fishing and hunting. Three years ago Cory and his mom shot their first elk together side by side โ€” and, yes, Cory's elk was bigger. Cory is well known for his smile and wonderful sense of humor. He had a good teacher: Thanks, Grandpa George.

Cory's "hero" in life was his big brother, Joe. Given the chance, there was always hope that he would have followed in his footsteps. Cory left behind a couple of final gifts to many. Cory proved that life can be short, and he brought together many relationships that had been distant for a very long time. Cory also proved that life is all about "choices," no matter what age you are. Cory was well loved and will be missed deeply.

Cory was preceded in death by his waiting angel, Troy Wagner. He is survived by his parents, Jody Plaza and Scott Anderson of Helena; his father Martin Andrewski of Taberg, N.Y.; brother, Joseph Andrewski, stationed at Fort Jackson, S.C.; grandparents, George and Judy McCauley of Helena; and distant family of New York.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at First Assembly of God. Please join us in celebration of Cory's life. To share a memory of Cory, please log onto www.
