Oscar's parents were Henry Marshall & Alice Walters Dyer.
Oscar was a great baseball player. Had an offer to play pro for the Pittsburg Pirates, but had already started his family, and couldn't afford to go. (Back then pro baseball players didn't make the money they make today.) Oscar worked in the coal mines most of his life until a mining accident cost him his foot and that ended his mining career.
He enjoyed his garden in his later years. Oscar and Alta were members of The Assembly of God church in Byesville, Ohio.
