Mary married Grover Woodford on June 12, 1915. They raised two daughters, Wilma (Dyer) & Louise Woodford. Mary's parents were Charles W. & Emma Secrest Scott. Mary had two brothers, Carl & Harry Scott. (See family picture at right, Mary is the little girl). Mary and her husband Grover, lived in the house and worked the farm that her grandfather, James Scott, built in 1853.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lucille Woodford, 79, Byesville R.D.1 will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Assembly of God Church, Byesville, with the Rev. Kenneth Littlefield and the Rev. J. G. Gott officiating. Burial will be in Guernsey Memory Gardens, east of Cambridge.

Friends may call at McGaughy Funeral Home here from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Mrs. Woodford died at 1 p.m. Friday (July 28, 1972) in Guernsey Memorial Hospital, Cambridge. She had been in failing health, but death was unexpected.

A breeder of parakeets and canaries for several years, Mrs. Woodford was born March 27, 1893 in Byesville, the daughter of the late Charles and Emma Secrest Scott. She was a founding member of the Assembly of God Church, Byesville.

Mrs. Woodford leaves one daughter, Miss Louise Woodford of the home, head bookkeeper and assistant treasurer of the Jeffersonian Co.; three grandchildren, Carl Dyer, Byesville, R.D.1, Mrs. Fred (Janice) Doran, Paden City, WVa, and Ronald E. Dyer, Lore City R.D.1 and seven great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Grover C. Woodford, preceded her in death in March, 1967. One daughter, Mrs. Wilma Dyer, three brothers and one sister are also deceased.

Mary and Grover helped establish the Assembly of God church in Byesville, Ohio where they were active members for many years. Mary and Grover were active farmers. Mary raised parakeets and canaries for many years. She, also, faithfully delivered fresh eggs to many customers in the area. Mary and Grover, also, raised and sold produce from their farm.
