Retired as Vice Admiral of US Coast Guard after service in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam Wars. During Vietnam he served as Admiral of the Pacific Command stationed at Diamond Head Lighthouse.

In the early 1970's he served at Third Coast Guard District, Governors's Island at which time his daughter Georgia was on Broadway and visited Governor's Island frequently.
