There is no other information about his service, but feel it is classified because Vern worked at the famous Oak Ridge, Tennessee military facility. Oak Ridge was established in 1942 as a production site for the Manhattan Project-the massive American, British, and Canadian operation that developed the atomic bomb. As it is still the site of Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Y-12 National Security Complex, scientific development still plays a crucial role in the city's economy and culture in general. Vern's capacity at this site are unknown at this time.

Vern Allet McKay died 01 June 1980 at the age of fifty nine years (59), not sure but family always said he died from cancer. Family history is limited.
