Doris was the daughter of Dorse "Dave" Thomas Hale and Dahlier M. Teat. She was one of six children. Her sisters were Virginia M. "Govie" Hale, Annie Loretta Hale Hughes, Vivian Modeia "Bea" Hale Shavers, Bonnie Ozella Hale Tyler, and Thomas J. Hale.
She was survived by her three children, Kenneth C. Hughes and wife, LeVonia; Barbara Marie Coburn and husband Michael Lester; and, Peggy L. Romero.
Doris loved to fish and loved her home on Toledo Bend Reservoir where she and Clyde moved after his retirement from Texaco. When she was unable to go out in the boat, she would fish off the dock. She earned the title of "Dock Guide" at Holly Park Marina.
